Modular Milling System for Carbide Tool Heads Achieves Maximum Cutting Depth

High-precision toolholder and tool shrinking company, Haimer USA, displays many new high-performance machines at IMTS 2022, now available in Industry 4.0 versions. Haimer will also feature Haimer Mill solid carbide end mills and the modular system, Duo-λock, with new cutting tool geometries for multiple materials, clamping options for milling and turning devices and accessories. Haimer is located in booth #431510.
The Duo-Lock is a modular interface for carbide tool heads. It combines what Haimer reports is the highest accuracy in runout and length presetting with maximum stability based on its patented double cone surfaces, which maintains high stiffness and accuracy due to the third rear contact area for challenging milling applications. In addition, the Duo-Lock carbide blanks and collets are suited for clamping Duo-Lock tools in all established ER collet chucks, driven units and spindles with ER interface.
The Duo-Lock, Die and Mold Chuck toolholders are made of hardened steel and feature a carbide core for vibration dampening and prolonging tool life span. The tool’s rigidity reduces vibration and chatter during milling, thus increasing the speed of all machining operations for all-volume users.
Haimer says the product’s patented thread design with a double cone bond interface is a feature that is the most important for moldmakers. Because it uses the full potential of the milling geometry, it achieves maximum cutting depth through the milling head, improving efficiency and providing excellent stability and load capacity.
